Let’s say you’re out with a new friend. You’re close but not close enough to have conversations flowing easily. Or, you’re on a date, and you have been through the general stupid topic starters related to family, pets, jobs, etc. You know what i’m talking about? You don’t want to ask creeper questions, like "where do you live," or, "what’s your favorite color," you know.. the preschool lingo.. so what should you start to talk about? Any suggestions?

Ask them what 5 things they would take with them to an isolated island. The items they pick, you can probably identify that person’s personality more easily. For example: Xbox+games = so you’re a gamer huh? do you know a lot about computers?
