I drink 12 -16 beers a day and spend a lot of time staring at wall tiles. I hate to be rude to the neighbors, but I never know what to say as an icebreaker. I always try to be complimentary, so last night I improvised and said "nice unit dude". This morning I had 4 stitches on my forehead and an appointment for new eyeglasses. When I talk to my girlfriend what should I start conversations about?

Like "What is your favorite music or cd?" "What sports do you like?"

Should I talk about random stuff like that?

just say "sup?" and maybe it will get into a thorough conversation. What ever she says, just keep talking. If she says, "im really tired" or something then ask her why. Tell her something about yourself. Ask her things about herself. Just say "i think it would be nice to know a little bit more about you. Tell me some things about yourself" And when she can't think of anything else to say, THEN ask her what favorite color, or cd, or sport is. When you get farther into the relationship, it will be easier and more comfortable to talk to her about things. Good luck~

i talk to my boyfriend on the phone a lot, but there's usually some awkward silences. what are some questions or something to say to him?

when there is an awkward silence, inside jokes ALWAYS work wonders.
Bring up a REALLY random conversation starter though and it will build from there though…like,:
