What are some good conversation starters for a hostess seating people at a restaurant?
I just got a job at a really nice restaurant, and I'm required to make small talk while showing people to their seats. I'm so sick of asking if they're enjoying the weather, and I don't want to just stand there as they're sitting down and I'm handing them their menus!
Can anyone help?
I work at a 4 star restaurant as a server, I have to make lots of small talk. Find out the specials or items on the menu you like. Our building has a history people like to hear that. Or I talk about the facts of the area, the lake size etc.
Ask them if they are out for a special occasion or if they are just out. If it is a special occasion try to tell the server so they can do something special. You kind of have to feel the people out some are easier to talk to than others, some do not want to be bother talking to you. Give it time you will figure it out and develop some good people skills along the way.
Does anyone have any good conversation starters or ideas?
I like this girl in confirmation and I don’t know what to say, what I should say to get her to talk to me. Ideas would be nice and then how to say it in a cool fashion. I don’t want her to think that I like her, I just want her to be a friend. What should I say?
Why not just use the good old fashion traditional greeting of "Hello, how are you today?"
You said you want to just be her friend, so approach her like 'a friend' would, and keep it casual and non evasive.
Once you get past the hellos, you guys can chat about your impending confirmation ceremony.
What are some very good conversation starters?
So you can talk for hours and hours and never get bored.
Whatever the starter, it only lasts a long time if you like them, and they like you.
you are right to stay off the cliches – but saying: "I won't ask what you do, but do tell me what you wanted to do?" gets a bit of a laugh and a lot of surprises.
what are some random but serious conversation starters?
I went out on a…date? last night and felt like I had nothing to say. I blame it on being tired, but also, when I really do like someone, I don't talk much! ughh. I tried to ask a lot about him, but what are some other things to ask/say? I want to be seen as the intelligent person I am, not just some stupid girl that stands still and looks pretty.
Also. Not just for dating. Just conversation starters/restarters for when things get dull.
Here are a few that come to mind off the top of my head — you can email me if you want more:
Have you heard that a lot of people don't believe that 9-11 was carried out by Al-Queda but was really a plot by the Bush administration to drag us into Iraq so that a lot of money could be made by their powerful cronies?
Or
Have you noticed how american culture is becoming increasingly vapid? Doesn't it seem like corporations are happy that we are so stupid and don;t ever stand up for our rights?
Or
Have you noticed how many new survalence cameras are appearing all over?
Or
Did you know many people feel that trickery is what won Bush both elections? Idn't it time we marched in the streets to demand that he be removed from office in shame?
The trick to good questions is having courage and passion.
What are some good conversation starters/ideas?
I’m thinking about inviting my best guy friend/crush to a local high school football game, but I need some conversation ideas to talk about. I don’t want to just sit there and stare. (we’ll be at the game for about 3 hours so the more ideas the better chance of getting best answer)
Thanks in advance!
Talk about everything!! Anything that pops into your mind, that should be talked about, talk about it. Play games where you take turn asking eachother questions to learn more about eachother. Talk about school and teachers/people. talk about you likes and dislikes. Yuo could even talk about the game. Talk about your friends, but be careful not to talk to much about yourself, ask him questions to or he might think you are self-centered. Ask about his family, just anything you might want to know about him. Just remember to ASK!!!
What are some funny questions that are kind of conversation starters?
I’m making a list of some questions for a mother/daughter girls event so the conversations flow without dull moments. They’ll just be random things, like “If you were to have the face of someone on your wallpaper, who would it be?” You know, kinda loaded questions. Can you help me? Thank you!
I don’t know if it’s funny but I’ll try to give you a couple questions.
What would you do with a million dollars?
Describe yourself in one word.
Who or what type of person do you want to be when you grow up.
What song do you feel you relate to the most.
Who’s poster would you post all over your room.
What tv show would you like to be on?
What do you think your best talent is?
If you could be anywhere in the world right now, where would it be?
If you could only have one ringtone for the rest of your life what would it be?
Conversation enders, conversation starters, & one-upsmanship
